Lesson Notes

In this video lesson, you will learn:

  • The Basics of Business Registration in the Philippines
  • How to Register your sole proprietorship
  • How to generate funding for your business

Step 1: Register your Business Name

  • Come up with 3 name options.
  • Research your available names in the Department of Trade and Industry Business Registration System

Sole Proprietorship:

For partnership or corporation:

For other forms of business organizations:

Consult with a lawyer or accountant

 

Step 2: Secure your digital assets for your brand or business name

  • Email
  • Domain Name
  • Social Media Accounts

Step 3: Secure your Business Permit

Requirements to Register Business Permit

  1. Certificate of Business Registration from DTI
  2. Barangay Clearance
  3. Two (2) Valid IDs
  4. Proof of Address or Contract of Lease if you are renting

Step 4: Register your business with the Bureau of Internal Revenue.

  • Go to the Regional District Office where your business is located.
  • Fill up form 1901.
  • Attach your Barangay Clearance, Mayor’s Permit, and Contract of Lease and submit.
  • Fill-up BIR Form 0605 and pay your annual registration fee.
  • Wait for your Certificate of Registration to be released (BIR 2303)

REGISTRATION OF BOOKS OF ACCOUNTS AND OFFICIAL RECEIPTS AND INVOICES

  1. Prepare a layout of your Official Receipt.
  2. Fill out the Authority to Print (BIR Form 1906) and photocopy of your BIR documents.
  3. Buy a General Journal and General Ledger for your Books of Accounts
  4. Register your Book of Accounts and your Official Receipts and/or invoices with the Treasurer’s Office.

Funding your Business

Capital

The money you use to finance the purchase of equipment, supplies, and products.

Working Capital

Covers the day-to-day operating costs of your business

Internal Bootstrapping

  1. Personal Funds
  2. Buying and Selling

External

  1. Personal Loans from Family and Friends
  2. Bank and Micro Loans
  3. Credit Cards
