Vlog or Video Log

A personal website or social media account where a person regularly posts short videos.

In the early days of blogging, vlogs were called podcasts, a term that was used to refer to both audio and video blog posts. Today the two have adopted their own distinct nomenclature.

Why should I start a Vlog?

Everybody has a message! It can bless other people while blessing you.

Why should I start a Vlog?

  • To gain online integrity and presence, and eventually get more clients.
  • To establish expertise on a particular niche
  • To improve speaking skills and further strengthen communication skills
  • To maximize your page or site, and eventually earn from them.
  • Help others by sharing your experiences, reviews, and valuable info.

Equipment and Apps

For Beginners:

  • Any smartphone with a good camera and microphone will do

For Advanced Vloggers:

  • Tripod
  • Powerbank
  • Mic
  • Mufflers
  • Drone

**For travel vloggers

  • Windows Movie Maker-free and downloadable video editing app
  • Filmora
  • Adobe premiere

Vlogging Tips and Tricks

  • For motivational videos, vlogs with a message, make sure lighting is good, the background is not distracting
  • Recommended background is a moving one – not solid
  • Do a test video – check audio and camera frame
  • For live videos, write down an outline, keywords or phrases will do.
  • Remember to look at the camera, not at the phone screen.
  • Just like in writing, there should be a topic, an intro, body, and closing.
  • Always have a call to action. What do you want your audience to do?
  • Recommended CTA: Like, subscribe, and share!
  • Consistency is the key to success!

How much do Youtubers make?

  • Google pays out 68% of their AdSense revenue, so for every $100 an advertiser pays, Google pays $68 to the publisher.
  • The actual rates an advertiser pays varies, usually between $0.10 to $0.30 per view, but averages out at $0.18 per view.
  • On Average, the YouTube channel can receive $18 per 1,000 ad views. This equates to $3 – $5 per 1000 video views.

Remember!

The first video, book, article, is ALWAYS the hardest to share.

No matter how significant your work is, it will never matter until you hit that share button!
